As title - DEAD! I love this car, but not at the moment . My son-in-law owned and maintained it meticulously for six years before he sold it, for genuine reasons, to me last summer. I was in heaven! It ticked all the boxes for my rural lifestyle until it died, without warning......three times......are they connected? Been at repairers for a couple of weeks now and mechanics are still scratching their heads! First time ........outside supermarket (Aldi, Saffron Walden if you’re interested! ) - car had been behaving beautifully but when I went to drive off, turned over but wouldn’t start. RAC guy said fuel pump. Son-in-law replaced said part and car started and off I drove into my rural idyll for several weeks. UNTIL.......(and is this connected or not ?)......hubby couldn’t turn key in ignition. RAC again ...low loader.....again (I’m giving neighbours a good laugh!) .....local Rangy owner was putting fear in God in us with all possible problems when son-in-law said “Have you tried the spare key?” - well, no, I hadn’t, but I’m not that lucky but I clambered in with spare key and..........it started first time! Life was good splashing my way around my aforementioned rural idyll, looking down on the minions in their Micras........until, without warning, the bugger wouldn’t start......turned over, but wouldn’t start. Son-in-law reckoned it was the in-tank fuel pump, but it wasn’t. Enter really amazing RAC guy who spent about two hours trying to sort problem and reckoned it it was the high pressure fuel pump . Low loader AGAIN and mechanics are pretty stumped. They’re trying a new sensor (when part arrives 3rd January) then sending high pressure fuel pump to Bosch to be reconditioned if car won’t start. Any of you guys out there have ideas? As my introduction, I’m a mechanical numpty so all advice will be forwarded to hubby and son-in-law! Love you all lots in anticipation of advice! X
