My Kwik fit have been good guys - they swapped all my or styres and got a replacement tube - fur £40 or so.

personally - i wud go fur Grabber AT2 tyres.

A few of our customers have had bad experiences with them, obviously not every single person that works there is a cowboy, but here in Worthing they are absolute rip off merchants. They have stripped a few customers wheel bolts, requiring new hubs and recently managed to strip the thread on a spark plug inside the block of some poor man that was in there for a service. They told one of our customers he needed new brakes and a cambelt just after he had a service with us, he needed niether.

typical nobody in Bath seems to be able to get hold of those Grabber tyres you recommended,

will the size increase still be ok from 235/70 to 245/75 ?

Oh and dont worry to much about Quick Fit scamming me by wanting to replace anything as the mot is only 4 weeks old, and i will be stood right by the side of him as he applies the air gun to the nuts

Thanks

Jay

Ere' Daft, you remember on the T*O*S*S*E*Rs Guildford ramble we passed that shiny thing that was gingerly squeezing through that gate? We reckoned he was jest trying to impress the burd he had with him.

He pulled over to let us 'proper' laners pass then we didn't see him further down the track as he'd obviously bottled it & turned back. Bet that didn't earn him a leg over?

Anyways that wuz one of them 'warrior' things weren't it? Feckin 'worrier' more like!

yup - it wuz a worrier - not an aminule.

nievva as goot as a x-t ;) - at least i tried:D

I fink the general rule is "if yu wanna keep it shiny - dont go green laning in it"

Jay Kay,

In standard trim, the LR will run rings around any of the Jap 4x4's so you relax and rise above his taunts. Another thing, LR's are built here, by Brits, have some style.......Nearly all Jap 4x4's make the owner look like a scrap metal merchant or a pykie who's made a bit of money and wants somewhere to put the rottweiler!

I go off road constantly and never seen any of these jap imposters do anything they are ****e their chassis are dangerously weak, leaf springs, no articulation show this loser the Camel trophy dvds which show exactly what our beloved green oval machines can do in almost standard guise landies are amazing all everthing else is a fake and all fakes are ****e

leekegs:)

JK You might , by now have noticed that you have joined a club here who will ahve nothing bad said about their chosen brand, unless it's a Hippo and then only between ourselves, I've got a defender and a Hippo and, sticking my neck out here, the Hippo might get further up a lane than an animal. Anyway it might if it went first?

the Quick Fit guy suggested AT 245/75 16s (a bit bigger all round i guess)will theses be ok or will there be any probs with wheels turning etc.

Jay

245/75's are okay but get Kwik-Fit to check they don't rub on anything when you're at full steering lock. There's a bolt on each hub you can adjust to prevent rubbing but if you have to adjust it then you'll increase your turning circle a bit.

Also, be aware that as the new tyres have a bigger circumference than your old ones (which are standard size) your speedo will read incorrectly. As you're going up in size then the speedo is going to be reading slower than it should. Use your satnav (if you have one) to check the speedo reading. Ok, I know the difference is only about 1/2% but it's there.:p

One benefit you get from the bigger tyres is about 20mm higher ground clearance

General grabber AT2's are a very good and cheaper alternative to BFG AT's. I put some on my disco after not being able to climb a clay/grass bank on my pirelli scorpians, went back to the same spot on the new tyres and no problems at all..!

Cant comment on longevity yet!

I went for the Grabbers as I could get 5 for the price of 4 BFG's

as i own a shogun well a swb 2.5td pajero i know only too well how **** they are off road ! as i only own one while i get my 1962 109 rechassised it will be sold soon to pay for more toys for my landy.

so hes talking out of his arse ! :D

I wont be going this Sunday as im London until Wednesday, but should be next Sunday if i can get the AT tyres put on, at the moment Kwik-Fit cant get the tyres i wanted ! (or any AT tyres for that matter, wots going on with these garages)

Anyone suggest a decent Tyre place in the Bath / Bristol area ?

Thanks

Jay

Best tyre place I know and used them for years is Britania Tyres in fishponds Bristol back of safeway ;Will not rip you off. Last time I got some tyres for discovery was a few years ago and about 250 pounds for 4, try them they are very good
