loud noise from dash?

Read somewhere that there is a Air Con temp sensor behind the dash that has a little fan that flows air over it so that it gives a better reading? Could it be this?

Next time you go to a garage with an air line, give it a good blast through the vent under the clock. It may have loads of fluff etc on it.
