send message to guy called stopover he from where you are and knows about l/r r/r he has garage, and maybe able to help you. ok

sounds like you need to investigate before it gets beyond repair!!! could be oil pump too. in anycase further use could cause serious and expensive damage!!!

you can take the case off but you will need new gaskets, you might aswell replace the water and oil pumps and cam chain and sprokets, its one of them jobs thats almost idiot proof, i say almost as some idiots are exceptionally talented at fecking things up!

if the chain comes through the case its gonna cost circa 200 quid just for the front cover!!!!

Anyone want me ??

Clattering, if its the wife turn radio up.
If its in the engine investigate very asap. What type of car/year/engine is it?

Bought, (at very low cost) a rather nice Ardens Green 3.9 Classic once with a rod through the block. Asked the previous owner what happened, he said "It was making a sort of clattering sound so I gave it a good rev"!!!! He had the car for about two years and couldn't remember if he, or anyone else had put any oil in!
