Disco 3 (LR3) Lost all keys.

I only ever had one key for my 2007 LR 3 always meant to get a second one.
Yes you guessed it, now have none. Searched the house high and low, but it's vanished into thin air and after a month, I'm starting to lose all hope. It's also locked and in the garage.
Are there any options other than ringing the dealer with the Vin number ?

I think the dealers closed here with the lockdown (Ireland), and they probably would want as much as a 2007 with a dodgy suspension is worth lol.

You may be surprised but we have had this on this forum before.
Unless you or someone else dropped it down a drain it will be somewhere.
But it may not be in the house.
Do you have small children who could have moved it?
Have you checked in friend's and neighbour's houses where it could have dropped out and down the back of their sofa or somewhere when removing or putting back on a coat or something?
Do you have more than one car? If not and you locked the LR with the key then it limits at least slightly the places it could have got to, but if not then it could have travelled with you anywhere in the other car and could be in the other car.
Others have found their keys jammed in between seat squab and back in their other car, also kiddies can take them and play at driving daddy's or mummy's cars and then shoved them somewhere daft once the game gets boring.
Have you been to all the shops etc you visited over the past month or so to see if someone handed it in? Difficult witht he lockdown I appreciate.
In the meantime you could of course get a quote from the LR stealer so you know the worst case scenario.
But don't give up, get your friends and family to help and imagine they are searching for drugs, and take nothing for granted. I once found a teapot in a fridge.

Yeah , I figured it would appear too, and searched in all the usual places, some places have been searched at least 20 times now, but to no avail.
My Dad was using it, and he went into hospital, and possibly took key with him in his pocket.
Also I have a crazy collie dog, who I'm nearly certain was smirking, when she saw me searching for the key.

I got a replacement barrel with 2 keys (non-fob type) for a defender from a main dealer a while back after some scrote vandalised one of my door locks. I have the key number so it was easy for them to match a new lock. Cost about 50 sovs.

Thinking twice, if the main dealers are answering the phone they should give you he key code by phone FOC based on ownership evidence

Thanks guys, just curious if I got the key code and got a cheapo non fob key with chip, given that I have iid tool, could I program an "ebay" fob from it ?

I spent a week looking for the key once, I'd left it in the ignition!

Yes, as long as you use the correct entry procedure with the key as in the Owner's handbook to not immobilise the vehicle a proper fob can be sync'd with gap tool just be carefull cos once immobilised the tester doesnt comunicate with the BCM

Have you asked the hospital about this? Know it is likely they have more on their plates than they can handle at the mo, but depends...
Worth a try, or have you already done this?

Good point but i presumed tha once the code is known the key can be cut to fit the ignition

I had a spare key cut from a photograph of original sent to a company on eBay. But to program I had to have original key also.

Is there any way, the vehicle could be locked with the key in the vehicle, as in somewhere inside, but not in the ignition ?
@sierrafery , those guys in the link you posted recommended cheapest is ordering key from dealer.

They didnt say they are cheap they said that waiting for the dealer to deliver you a key might last much.... though they kind'a contradict themselves in the last paragraph if they told you that LR is cheaper .... f**k' em

I thought the key was missing about a month, but wife told me it has been missing nearly 8 weeks and yet I only posted here last night looking for help..
You could not make this stuff up, I kid you not, about 45 minutes ago, my Dads sky box locked up and wouldn't change channels.
Despite being 83 years old, he decided if he pulled and dragged at the cables going into the sky box, he would sort it.
He was wrong about fixing the Sky box, but when he pulled his hand out, he had the key of a Landrover Discovery. He was overjoyed, he must have spent 100 hours searching for that key.
I wouldn't mind, it's the last place on earth you could accidentally put a key, plus I did search there a couple of times. Don't know, maybe it had become tangled in the cables and moved with the box, when I pulled the box out to look.
Anyway, all happy now.
I fitted one of those "Tile" bluetooth finders to it, might help next time, who knows maybe I have learned enough to get a spare key (nah, probably not).
