Loss of power

On a recent trip the engine lost power, it restarted and was ok for 10 mins and then lost power , I left it for about 3 mins and then started with no issues , this happened about 3 months ago, I have it serviced regularly by a LR garage, I have owned it for about 12years (bought it when 6months old) I have now covered 200,000 miles ,I would appreciate if any one could give me any idea what the problem could be many thanks mr bojangles

What I would be wondering, apart from why anybody would own a freelander, is why he is asking about it now if it happened 3 months ago, and hasn't happened since.

It’s very common for a newbie to ask a technical question with long descriptions, but leave out whether it’s petrol or diesel, let alone engine type. Even odder is bothering to fill in the profile page while leaving those details out of the question.
I’m sure we’ll find out...

Anyway, over to the FL2 lads.

Irrespective of having 'it serviced regularly by an LR garage' my first port of call before anything else would be to change the fuel filter. It would appear it is a very common trait for them simply to not get done and is without doubt the most common fuel problem IMHO.

At 200k I’d be thinking pump as well as filter, if FL1 Td4.

Guessing is the fun part! Although I’ve never liked magic shows, because they never reveal the trick. A bit like watching a murder mystery where Poirot gathers the suspects, then it ends.

I know. I have been on LZ for nearly 10 years, and posted nearly 39,000 times!

I used to reply to a lot of questions about matters I know about, mainly Series 2 and 3, Ninety and One Tens, and early Defenders.
I rarely do so now, partly because many of the questions are almost impossible to understand, come from people who have never owned the vehicle, and are quite clearly looking for something to do on the internet on a quiet night, or just total fantasists.
Another issue with the older vehicles is that everything has already been said, they have been around for a minimum of 20 years, and a look at a manual or online search would usually reveal the answer that they are looking for.
I do occasionally answer questions that pop up on LZ Live when I am online. If the question is of interest to me.
Like most of the other seniors, though, I mostly prefer to stay in the safety of AG, and chat to my friends!

And I do enjoy trolling the freelanderers on occasion!
