Hi all help my p38 bmw engine runs great on the flat down hill too but up hills it's dross loses power really quickly and on a long drag down to 30 no smoke though

Cool I'll try that first then test actuator and then leaks in the pipes can't make it worse well hope not cheers for help

You will only get loss of power if waste gate actuator has failed and waste gate is permanently open. Pretty rare occurrence. More likely to fail and give over boost rather than less boost. Look at MAP sensor and check fuel lift pump is working properly. Lots of things to look at if MAP sensor is ok. Internal delamination in turbo pipes, blocked intercooler Etc. Ignore this post then. But keep in mind for future reference. ;);)

Earlier ones also had turbo intake elbow made from soft plastic, which gets even softer over time(high temperature doesn't help) - it can collapse causing total loss of power and lots of blue smoke from exhaust when high power demand(foot to the floor). Newer ones are made from some very stiff plastic and it doesn't happen anymore. Just worth checking, if its soft one, replace it before it tries to kill you when overtaking.
:D
