Disco 2 Losing my throttle

Hi all, I’ve had a recurring issue over the last couple of months with my 03 TD5 ES Auto where the revs have started dropping/bouncing when driving. After a hundred odd miles or so of experiencing this I lost the throttle completely with the M and S lights flashing and engine management light on, engine was idling but the gears engaged, after a restart it was fine. Has happened another couple of times, again after a hundred miles or so.

So I’ve got my hands on a Foxwell and it’s reading the below faults, I was only able to clear the driver demand fault:

Aircon fan drive open load fault logged.
Aircon fan drive open load fault active.
Fault detected with driver demand logged.
Engine speed outside bounds for cruise (where fitted) active.
Vehicle speeds outside bounds for cruise (where fitted) active.

Lots of threads on here regarding the TPS and the wiring that could be very useful but a steer on where to go first would be great if anyone can share their advice please?

The only relevant fault is the driver demand and according to the symptom the problem is with the TPS or it's circuit... unless it's ECU fault ... the aircon fan thing needs investigation and the other faults can show if the vehicle has no cruise control

The first thing is to rule out the TPS by changing it with a known good one cos that's the most common, then if the symptom persists you can go further otherwise its feckless

OK, was under the impression the TPS was integral to the throttle pedal assembly and so +£300 new parts.. Is the sensor alone replaceable?

Not available as spare, find a reliable seller and buy used, here's a fair one:

Make sure you get the correct part. Best take old one out first to check the part number. Some are 3 position, some 2

Thanks for the thought, I'm assuming with mine being 2003 it will be a 3 track. Can find plenty of used 2 track so far...

To update, I write with some trepidation but it's been a dozen trips and a hundred miles or so without losing revs after replacing the throttle pedal with a used part, 50 quid delivered and so far so good.
