 hi im very new to the forum i have two p38 one 1999 and the other a 1997 both have problems with air suspension we have had all four height sensors replaced and the cpu cleared down and suposidly re set but still have the same bloody problem of not adjusting or adjusting on one side or the other please help!!!!

Hi
They are a labour of love.

I'm sure it's fixable but first can you give us a clue of whats happening / not happening. Symptoms and whats been done. A bit more detail may help.

Some good people on here and I'm sure they'll get to the bottom of it.

If you're paying for air suspension re kicks then first of all go to ebay and buy a lead so you can do it yourself. I did and it was the best £30 I'd spent.

First thing it sounds as though you need the ride height reset. This will need to be done by a specialist with the correct metal blocks that allow the height to be set and then locked into the ECU. Mine are something like 19" from centre of wheel to wheel arch.

If the height sensors have been replaced more often than not they need to be recalibrated to the car. You cant just fit them, reset the fault codes and drive away.
Maybe this is your problem. Easy (about £80 from memory) fix and away you go!:welcome2:

Hi thanks for your reply and time, we have two P38s the newer being a 1999 4.6 have had the sensors replaced but still got the car misbehaving seems to settle down lowest setting then won't move then maybe three corners will level very odd, I (Jordan's Husband) have always done all my own repairs but now very busy and our mechanic although very good not a RR specialist just think he is missing something simple that neither of us know about, our older car tends to have off days (1997) on the self leveling front any advice or help most gratefully received cheers

First and foremost go and find a specialist who can set the ride height.

I reckon thats the problem (I had the same on my 97 4.6 when a new front sensor was fitted).

The other one could be the same issue.

As I say the lead from Ebay means you can put the necessary software on your laptop and do many things to your suspension (Including setting the height I think) but to do it properly you need the blocks to go under the chassis and hold it until the sensors are set.

Because they have the correct equipment they can also tell you if it's something else playing up. I still reckon from the sound of it you need the ride height re setting. Then you can enjoy the car again!;)

You do not need a specialist to set the ride height, the free software from www.rswsolutions.com a cable, laptop and a tape measure is all that is needed. Slightly incorrect ride heights will not cause the problems you seem to have.
First step as always, get the software and read the faults.
Second step check for leaking airbags with a soapy water spray, look for bubbles. the bottom of the airbags where they fold under is the usual place. If they are over 6 or 7 years old or100k miles they are almost certain to be leaking. That will lead to a knackered pump amongst other things.
After that there are a number of other things that can be considered.

If you were not so much already at the end of your tether, as your posts title suggests, and if time and cost were something you had to spare for even just one of your cars, i would willingly and happily agree with all previous posters advice that trying to get RSW's gear going would be the best and lowest cost option and add nothing to this thread at all.

However RSW's equipment, while it does ultimately work, is well known for it's own difficulties in getting working as it should and can, but frankly i think based on your comments, you really do now seem to need something that just does the job you require absolutely 100% flawlessly with absolutely no problem or hassle.

Therefore i introduce you to the EAS kicker
Created by Blackbox Solutions Ltd

With over 500 sold, quite a few of which tried the RSW gear first. not one buyer has reported any problems using our EAS kicker which is just fully plug and play.

The EAS Kicker is available from our Blackbox solutions Ltd on line shop and ebay shop.

I apologize to any for appearing to jack this thread for commercial reasons, and i can but only hope that most will appreciate that i did not do that for the few odd quid that i might possibly make when selling an EAS kicker, but for the fact that i recognized and acted upon the real life needs of a P38 owner requiring a more instant and more dependable solution.

I don't want to **** on your parade, but quite a few have had trouble getting the EAS kicker to work, not the fault of your excelllent kit but down to the crap quality of the OBD connector, the very same reason that some folks have trouble with the RSW software.
Also I do not recall that your EAS kicker is capable of re-calibrating the suspension after a height sensor has been replaced.

It would, but then it would seem to the recipient like i was snooping round behind the scenes looking for sales opportunities,

seems like spam to me
Yea it read like that to me this morning as well, looked a lot better last night after a few glasses of lubricant.

Have a heart man!!!!!
Indeed.

Daves.Angel, Pm me your Address, and i will send you an EAS kicker totally free of charge with my compliments to get you on your way and persuade you to put down the matches.

I will specially check the lead out myself cus there were a few dodgy ones as Datatek notes. :(

Recalibration and Live sensor reading was something we added to the EAS Kicker a year or two back as an enhancement upgrade Datatek.

Dear Mr BBS Guy.

I am having a hard time with my 2 Range Rovers, One being a DSE and one being a 4.6. If you can find it in you heart of hearts to send me .............

Only joking mate. Nice gesture which I am sure will be greatly appreciated:clap2:

I agree it is a VERY nice gesture......Being a "Sales Engineer" myself I do understand "The Sentument" in which BBS posted his "post"

However, & with my "Marketing" head on here instead of posting "randomly" on here it would be prudent, would it not for BBS to "Obtain" some "Certification" from A forum (Such as this) there-by enabling him to widen his "Catchment" area. this would open a "two way street" BBS gets more sales & we get more "attention"

Existing members/admin/mods ect would get "preferential" treatment for the "Sponsering" of BBS products

JUST A THOUGHT!!!
