As the title suggests, it looks like we're losing another lane in the Peak District. Only 6 user evidence forms were received, including mine. Just goes to show that if we all think 'someone else will fill in User Evidence Forms', we will soon have no lanes left to us.
The vast majority of it is proposed to become a Bridleway. The ford will have no access at all.
This was a great lane, albeit not used by many 4x4's. On all occasions I used it, I never came across other 4x4 users, only trail bike riders.
I hope GLASS and TRF object to the proposal, and are successful.

A shame to lose this great lane - a rocky ford that was deep at times, hairpin bend up a steep hill through a wood, great views over the field at the top, through a farm and a hamlet. A classic.

If GLASS/TRF object loud enough it may take that long for it to be finalised. If you do this lane, be aware the farm gate is locked at night, it's only passable in the day time; and the cattle grid is off piste (private build), go through the gate alongside.

Wont be long till all the lanes in the peaks are gone.... Protesting is a waste of time...
There are far too many folks with enormous amounts of pressure to bear involved with the peaks authorities.
Each time one closes it increases pressure on the rest and makes it easier to justify closing the remaining ones.

But if we all think like that we will lose them - no doubting it. We need to support GLASS and TRF and stop the closures.

Nothing to do with bloody glasses.... Everything to do with the internal workings of the Peak District it's National park status AND the power that certain none motorised access groups wield.

The motorised access groups will always be in a minority compared to them... And frankly the behaviour of some of them we deserve all we get.

Sadly true.

We HAVE been supporting them and we STILL lose them....

Our voices even added together are nothing compared to the weight of the RA/Land owners/etc etc.

Sad as it is no amount of moaning. About it on forums etc will change it at all.

You might have been supporting them, but it seems very few other people have.

SIX user evidence forms, hardly supportive is it?

We have now asked for objections, lets see how many people actually bother

How's about if we post an objection instead of a post on here.
It costs nothing but a few minutes of time.

Be a keyboard warrior with an objection against closing another lane

I have posted the form all over Facebook.

I will put the link to it on here as well.

Why not start one of those on line petitions David

Just short of 1400 objections to Chapelgate against 900 in favour of closure....

Should still be open shouldn't it??

Sadly the objections don't have any effect on the actual outcome.... DCC/PDNPA/local and land owners want the lanes and byways closed.
The Peak District has changed dramatically over the last few years as heaps of rather wealthy folks have bought property and begun to turn the place into some sort of playground.

No matter the weight of our argument to keep byways etc open it will never happen I'm afraid.

Do the objections have to be from people tht have driven it? Or do general objections count?

I can write to the chap at the county council if you think it will help?

User evidence would have come from people who have driven it.

Objections are OK from everyone. Needs to have reasons such as

"evidence is available that the route has been regularly used by motor vehicles for many years without challenge" or "DCC have not given sufficient weight to the status of the route which is an unclassified county road included on the List of Streets".

No user evidence, never been anywhere near it!

I shall write with suitable wording, and point out how closures impact negatively on tourist spend! :)
