I think the reason for this at the end of the day is down to Money, If I could afford a ready made rust free one ready to drive away then I would,
But then I would miss out on the thrill of building one up, always wanted to have a go. I am in no rush at all, if I get stuck which I probably will there always someone to help.

Fair enough, I guess we all have different approaches. I’ve got the ‘I’m actually skint and the Mrs would kill me if I spent another penny on that f*cking Jeep!’ sort of approach.

just look around there are always bits for sale i stock pile all my stuff if i see owt cheap i buy it ive got axels and allsorts laying around i bought a r380 defender gearbox no use for it at the min but handy to have for the 300 tdi chassis ive got,think ahead thats the key ebay free ads gumtree local rags once people know your into landys they pop out the woodwork saying ive had this in my garage for years gis a tenner ive had loads of stuff like that,best think ive ever bought was a blast cabinet turn all the old crap into lovely new crap lol zinc primer and tractor paint good enough for me.

I know what you mean , its not a cheap thing to do. When I did mine I refurbed as much as I could but it was so far gone that there wasn't really much there worth saving, and the cost soon spiraled.

o ps get yaself a good angle grinder aldi do a belter for twenty quid and some cutting discs you will need it to get everything loose then replace with stainless much better get yaself to a fasteners place dont buy of ebay buy in bulk

funny thing is you buy a part its ok somone comes along with a better part you buy that you end up with boat loads

lol small world aint it there was a place through houghton lea spring not sure were they mooved too they had loads of gear,ive been all over the country buying my stuff road trips all over the place buying stuff its a labour of love

its handy to know though ive got that much stuff laying around dont know what ive got lol been trying to find my seatbelts i put them to one side ages ago cannit find em now had two brand new ones cannit find them either lol

The bulkhead's there and looks like it's been welded up already. The chassis looks in canny nick and, by the pictures, possibly good enough to galv.

It does say that 'it looks like most bits are there'. Lot of wriggle room in that statement though.

birtley galv i rant them left a message still waiting for a reply two years later lol ,leeds galv pick up from your place and return but you have to get them blasted forst mine got picked up from blaster they charged 120 to blast it and leeds galv charged about 500 not sure how much it would be now

I know, Has anyone noticed photo 6 Rear cross member is shot but spare one is laid on top.
Just noticed myself before.

i aint looked at pics if you know what you are doing you can weld one back in and you wouldnt notice but i would and strengthening plates too it too over the joints to make it super srong so you dont pull the arse our of ya landy when towing or in my case i use them as a mobile jig pmsl if i dont use a tree

i need to get my hands on some of those wheels that are on the spectre defender and those mickey thompson tyres too for mine trying to find a good price for em anyone got any links ,just built the roof rack off the spectre one debating if i should make the roll cage too as they aint cheap
