Hi guys. I'm new to the Forum as i'm looking to get a Disco within the next 2 months due to my road getting worse and worse every day & killing my car.

I'm looking at getting a Disco 300TDi XS as i've allways liked these since i was about 11 (25 now btw) Any good?

The main reason for this post is to ask about fitting wider tyres. I dont want a monster truck but i do want to put the wider plastic arches on and just make the thing look wide and mean. I want to keep the rolling radius pretty much the same but just have wider tyres so i dont have to mess about lifting the thing.

Can anyone recommend some tyres that will do the job and if poss give me a bit of help on the things below.

Cost?
Road noise?
Tyres onto the standard wheels or buy wheels and tyres as a full set?
PICS! deffo need to see some pics to get ideas as i cant really find much on Google.

Cheers guys. I hope to have one sorted soon.

Andy

I dont know what i'm looking for tbh. Its tyre sizes i need before i can search. I know all about car tyre sizes offsets etc but dont have a clue on 4x4's

Spotted that one. I cant seem to find any pics at all showing tyre specs. Its ok saying what tyres will fit but i want to know how they will look on the car if that makes sense.

I'm going for looks more than performance if i'm honest guys. Its pics i need and i just cant find any.

i was bored:rolleyes:

What ever tread pattern you go for, if you want the mean wide look ie 33/12.5/15, this will require arch cutting with the plastic arches you mentioned before (pretty simple job) and a 2 inch lift, then they will go on no problem (been there done that) but make sure you get them on 15x10 modulars rather than 15x8 bout £4 per rim, that way you wont get no issues rubbing on lock, personally i'd gor for BFG's, if you want pics send me a pm

Cheere for that dude. I didnt want to be lifting it tbh. I'm usually the guy lowering cars so its a new world for me. Also dont want to be cutting arches, But you never know. Depends how cheap the car is at the end of the day.

Is there a way of going wider but not having to have a bigger diameter so i can keep the ride hight and rolling radius?

Cheers mate.

I got a land rover mag the other day. Spotted lift kits for £200. At that price i'll stick 1 on no problem. I just dont want to be cutting arches if i'm honest so will need to know how big i can go with the tyres. I wont be doing serious off roading anyway. It will be mosty on roads and a feww green lanes about the place.

PS, Happy new yr and all that jazz.

Have a look in me font of all knowledge it's got a what size tyres can I put on me disco. guide

lift kits are about £170 @ paddocks, if you're gonna be using it off road prob best to get a set of extended brake lines too,

the biggest you can probably go without cutting is 31", 32" and it will catch ever so slightly goin over speed bumps and require a tiny trim at the rear to sort this etc (off road it will catch considerably more or articulation) - theres a sticky for this at the top of the main discovery page

easiest way to work out tyre size, say the tyre is 245/75/16 the 245 bit is the track (the bit that touches the road) in mm, the 75 bit is the percentage of the track (which gives you the wall wall in mm) and obv the 16 is the rim size in inches so:

75% of 245mm = 183mm (7.2inch) this gives one wall obv there is 2 (top and bottom)
7.2inch x 2 = 14.4 inch + the rim size 16 inch
Gives an overall size 30.4inch

If the tyre size is 33/12.5/15 this is all straight inches

p.s i'll send them pics now

Cheers people, Thats a really good help. I'll look into that now while i have nothing better to do. Missed out on a Blue 300TDi XS the other day. Gutted.

Spotted these tyres just now. I like a lot but i dont have a clue how big they are haha

The ones on the silver one look huge but maybe its the angle.

Just a thought what about some spacers that way you'd get a wider look and ya would'nt have to cut or lift anything i think their about £150's
