Just viewed a Range Rover locally in arctic white. 1983/84 with a 3.5 v8 and 5 speed lt77 long shift gearbox. It is all completely original so will be a tasteful restoration if I do get it.
The bloke wants £300 it needs one new sill, one new inner wing at the front and one new one at the rear as well as both doors of the tailgate.
The clutch pedal is solid and I haven't heard it run or been able to drive it.
Has any Range Rover classic owners got any advice regarding restoring and owning an old Range Rover. I've got series land rovers and defenders so know a fair bit.

If you want it to drive, its restoration is fairly straighforward. you do as much or as little as you need. However if you want it to be worth all its money, you need to strip it completely and do a ground up restoration with new parts and photographic evidence.

Looking to keep it not make money on it. It's not been hacked about at all very straight body work but been sat in a field for 4 years and has taken its toll a little bit

Then the thing to do is get it to mot standard and drive and restore it as you go.you can spend as much or as little as you need and there is no time constraints. buy bits overhaul them and fit them , definitely worth buying if its straight . everything can be fixed and they are a good motor, easy to work on and no electronics

I have officially bought it and will collect it next weekend hopefully. Are 5 land rovers too many? Haha

I would definitely think it's worth three hundred quid. If it's white and of that age I'd also bear a couple of things in mind - first is it ex Police ( fleet line spec), second is it export spec. Neither should necessarily put you off but if you are restoring to original spec it would be relevant. My first RR was an 84 export spec in arctic white which had spent the first 12 months of its life in Saudi as a demonstrator and it was superb if a bit tired even when I bought it in 1995
