Thank you so much for your response. EBay has lots of them but for Diesel Disco3. Been on the site for a while now... but will continue to lookout on it. I appreciate the lead!Ebay, loads on there.

The engine type won't make any difference to the lock set you need. Don't forget that the key will need programming to the ECU, unless you swap the key blade over.EBay has lots of them but for Diesel Disco3.

Hi Lynall, Thank you so much for your responses! Do you have any Dealers' contacts I can try out for the Lockset. The first option is a second hand one from anyone breaking for parts... A brand new one would be painfully some option to consider!Sadly I can tell you first hand genuine lockset aint cheap.
But as the D3 is now a banger they may have come down in price? so would suggets try his dealer first.
Oh really? I was made to understand that the diesel lockset won't work on the petrol car? Now, this is an interesting revelation. I was leaving all the diesel options.....The engine type won't make any difference to the lock set you need. That's quite interesting to learn, thank you so much for that information!I would hazard a guess the lockset is the same regardless of engine?
After all it is just the ignition barrel and door lock.

Thank you for enlighting me on this issue. The local mechanics have made me believe that that was impossible! So now that changes everything because diesel options are plenty. I guess it's the coding part where this change would be a challenge hence they say it's not compatible! And you were told this by who?
I seriously doubt that information is correct. It'd be very unlikely and pointless for LR to install different locks for each engine type fitted, simply because the lock is part of the body, and has nothing to do with the engine, other than to communicate the correct immobilizer code to the engine control module. This is where the programming comes in, but if the original key blade is used, no programming would be necessary.

What is wrong with the locks? Is it a mechanical failure within the lock itself, maybe due to dirt, dust or sand getting in?
If it's a mechanical failure in the lock, then all you need is the second-hand locks and keys. Then simply push the small roll pin out of the key body hinge section, as that's where the immobilizer transponder is, then put the blade from the replacement key back in.
It's not that difficult to do and eliminates all issues with coding the keys.
If the electronics of the key have failed, then things get more complicated, so knowing what the issue is would help.
OMG!!!! Really? You dont need a lock set for those faults
OMG!!!! Really?
I see myself sinking into a depression now!
Any hints on troubleshooting?
