Just pulled on the drive went to lock the car using the key fob and nothing! went to get the spare key fob (thought battery might be dead on the first one), but nothing? Put the key in the ignition everything lights up but wont turn the engine over

I went to lock the car using the key and it has alarmed itself, when I go to open the door the alarm sounds and I have to lock the door again.

Is it a single button or twin button fob?

Try inserting the key in the ignition and turning the ignition on. Then press the buttons alternately. Ignore the alarm sounding. It'll shut up after 30 secs. If that doesn't work come back on and we'll go from there.

Another one to try:

Close and lock car - put key in and turn to unlock position, press and hold the unlock button on the fob 4 times I think (I just pressed it till it did something) until the indicator lights flash.

Take key out - lock door with fob, unlock and try starting engine - did EXACTLY this about 2 months ago - oh and it might be worth replacing the battery before doing this - the technique I have explained above is to recode the fob. So if the battery is dead or taken out the car can send it's code assuming the key is in the door in the unlock position.]

Did you get any of the warnings the battery was on it's way out? Indicators don't flash but car does lock/unlock - dash LED stays on until you turn the engine on or keeps flashing after unlock even though car is remobilised.

no nothing like that, been at work all day only 3 cars in the car park all day

I'm gonna guess that you are suffering from interference from something like a wifi network, wireless doorbell etc. Have you got he eka code? If you have it's time to enter it. If you haven't keep your fingers crossed whatever is interfering is turned off soon.
