Little light in bottom centre of instruments

soz, 1996 300tdi, in the centre of the instruments, at the bottom, between the rev counter and speedo, there's a little light (I assume it's a light!) Just wondering what it's for?

Alarm light possibly?

If it looks white it is the light for the Alarm/immobiliser. This should flash red when doors are locked remotely.

Yep 96 would have the alarm led in instrument cluster. If it dont flash it could be wire off or alarm fault.

Ah ok ta, I guess the alarm doesn't work then....or at least, the light doesn't

Had a very close look at my 95 dash today and there is a bit between the gauges that looks like a wheel arch outline and a wheel within that, in the position that the later models have an alarm/immobiliser light.

Anybody got an instrument cluster off the vehicle that they could hold up to a light and see if its the same?

The earlier models had the same led under the stereo so you might be able to replace it with 1 of them. Not been into a later clock set yet so cant tell you for sure
