hi guys, im new to the off road world, and while im just getting started and sat my disco on four insa turbo special tracks, and im just wondering with the 2" body lift kits on the internet, are they any good? as in time im going to be fitting shocks and springs etc, but could some one let me know if these kits are worth having? and do you have to extend the brake hoses etc?
thanks matt :D

well it would all depend on your budget and what style of off roading you plan on doing, i first started out just using 2" spacer blocks just to see how the disco would handle higher up before splashing out big money on a proper kit. i did'nt fit extended brake lines at first, but when i had decided to go ahead with the lift. i used pro comp dampers, britpart lift springs, goodridge extended brake lines and extended bump stops. i generally use my disco for greenlaning and in the local woods when marshalling the local rally, so really the 2" inch lift was'nt necessary for the type of use of the vehicle but it did help with clearance of my mt insa turbo tyres i was running. hope this helps but i would first decide what you will be using the disco for.

when i had decided to go ahead with the lift. i used britpart lift springs

You didnt fancy doing a decent job then :) LOL

On a serious note its not a difficult job if you need to do it, to be honest the disco is perfectly good with just a suspension lift and if needed a camel cut on the arches...

Who are you insured with as Id double check they would still cover you before you waste your time / money, a spring lift may be a cheaper option... please dont risk not telling them , if it goes badly wrong you may end up doing time for modifications that are dangerous in the eyes of a CPS 'supposed expert' as has happened

Cheers Steve

... thanks for the reply steve, yeah i never thought of the insurance part

hey short round, yeah not wanting to do any serious off roading, just a steady drive round the woods and abit of green laneing, did ure disco handle ok with the body lift?
did you leave the antiroll bars on etc? :crazy_driver:
