little 12 v thing next to the fuel pump on td4

What the hell is the little 12v thing next to the fuel pump and what does it do?.
Anyone know its correct name so I can search for it. you can see it just this side of the fuel filter.

get all of the underbody oil sprayed it is looking very rusty.

your not wrong Teddy, its mainly surface rust but it looks bad.
plan is to remove one wheel and underbody panel and do a corner a weekend. use a wire brush in a drill and then paint with por15.
