hi i have a rr p38 dse 2.5

when i start the car i get a warning light that looks like an injector with an arrow pointing at it. the car also lacks a lot of power. iv been told this is called limp mode of something like that.

iv changed the water pump, fuel pump and filter and ive tried removing and reinserting the batterie but nothing has cured it.

the raidiator has a leak and im lookin for a replacement now. could the raidiator cause the problem?

if anyone knows how to cure this pls help

When you start it does it rev upto 1500rpm and then drop back to idle after a second or two leaving the injector light on??

I dont know what the default behaviour of the engine is should a sensor fail on startup or whatever but recently when I had my fuel stop solenoid on the FIP stick and only half open I had exactly the same symptoms.

I would start the engine, revs would jump right up and then die back down to normal idle speed leaving the injector light on. I was in Oxford when I had this happen to me and had to drive it in this state back to Milton Keynes, vehicle was very underpowered like it was being starved of fuel and at one point I had to make it up a long steepish hill, ended up crawling up it at around 15ish MPH, was the last Friday of July, had alot of people behind me wanting to get home in rush hour, was a bit like a scene from Top Gear but at the time it didn't seem half as funny :D

I ended up replacing the stop solenoid and this cured it. Until I could my hands on the part though I gave the stop solenoid a good few taps with a long extension bar and this sorted it until the following Tuesday when I had the solenoid replaced.

So, try giving the stop solenoid on the FIP a few gentle love laps and then start up and see what happens.
