Limp mode and fault code

Hi there, my 4.4tdv8 often gives a “Restricted power” pop up on the dash. (There is no noticeable difference in power) we got the car scanned and it came back with one fault code being: P040D EGR-temperature sensor A
Signal to high

I’ve looked it up for some answers but find different stuff and not really one answer. Can any of you help me with this one?

First thing is to locate the sensor,
Check the connection is sound and no corrosion.
Then remove the sensor connect to a dvm and apply heat, (heat gun or hairdryer) if the resistance doesn't change the sensor is duff.
The possibility that the sensor could also be not seeing a change could be down to something else physical and the ecu can only associate it as a sensor reading.
