Lights and Wheels on classic?

In the last 6 months I have gone back from a P38 to a classic LSE. The LSE still has a few nigles but overall I have been impressed with how it has come together over the period. The suspension has been gone through and replaced accordingly with poly bushes and new air bags etc, the body has been bare metal painted, and I now have a blueprinted 4.6 motor with sequential LPG.

I know this sounds sacrelidge but I'm thinking about putting some RR3 20" wheels on with hub adapters, but can't find any suitable wheel arch extensions. Has anybody come up with a solution for a classic range rover extensions with wider wheels? I'm probably going to have to cut the arches higher to allow clearance when the car is on ots bump stops, I may even have to put longer bumps on to hold the wheel off of the rear arches.

The other thought that I had was to change the lights on the car for brighter ones. 4x4 bits.com do them but I can't get hold of them have they gone bust? Then I thought, it may not be to anybodies taste, why not try and fit some later RR lights either from a p38 or a RR or RRsport. Has anybody on the forum tried this and if so what worked?

Any advice welcomed!

All wheels that fit on to classics with wheel adapters, stick out slightly and make the car look ungainly.

I hate to think what 22 inch whels would look like.

4x4 bits are still going but you do not want to buy those crystal lights as you can not adjust the beam pattern and they will get you nothing but drivers flashing you.

The clear crystal lamps from paddocks for £30 are brilliant and are EEC approved, fit them with Halfords lazer blue bulbs and you will be impressed.

Thats the second bad press I have had on 4x4 bits perhaps I will keep away from them.

Has nobody on this forum considered P38 or L322 lights grafted onto a classic RR? Somebody must have at least tried and failed!

What is the dimension of the p38 /rr3/rrs headlights compared with the aperture for a classic grill and light?

Cheers

First off I should say I'm in the keep-it-standard camp, whether it is any good or not, so my opinion is biased that way.

It sounds like you want to do a thorough job on 'restoring' this LSE, won't non-standard wheels and wheel arch extensions spoil it? And 20" low profile tyres would I'm sure give a horrible ride with beam axles.
