Lifting with Salisbury Axle

Seen loads of lifting threads, can't find info I am looking for,
2 inch lift, ex military 110, salisbury rear axle, I've seen A-frame spacers for them, is it a good idea? And guessing new springs and dampers . Would this be a real lift with a salisbury spacer block with regards to ground clearance potential? (IE 2 inch taller tyres equal 1 inch real clearance but does this salisbury spacer reduce that clearance at all? )

Prop angle is what you have to watch and steering geometry. Raised above the mil 2" lift and they can handle like pigs on the road.

Yes, but I don't know if the salisbury axle spacer is necessary/recommended if omly a 2 inch lift.

OK got ya. Mine has a mil chassis with the mil 2" lift but Rover axles. The lift is done by the spring hangers, dumb irons and shackle length. There are blocks under the bump stops to keep the travel as for std. The spring to axle mounts are std and of course the axle is above the spring.

So do all military of that vintage have a lift? 1985 110 2.5 n/a

My understanding is that the military had some to a mil spec and those would usually have the 2" lift and some they bought and used a standard civvy spec. Would your have come with 7.70R16 or 9.00r16 tyres? I think even with the 7.50R19 they would usually have the lift.
I should add that when I talking about the spring hangers I mean on a Series/109 because that what I have so I can see how they did the lift. Can you get the parts book on line and check part numbers?
