I want to lift the carpet in the loadspace area to look underneath to see if it is wet or not but I cannot work out how to remove the strip of trim at the rear to lift the back edge of the carpet up. I could probably slide the carpet out but I doubt it would get it back in again. I did search and found reference to 6 screws on one post but I can't see any screws. I don't want to start levering stuff up until I know what I'm doing in case I break something. Any advice welcome.

There is a trim strip you have to carefully lift out first. It is the smooth, i.e. unribbed one. (Sounds like a condom!!!)
Lift it in the middle to avoid busting it.
But also be aware, that unless you want to cut the carpet, all the trim i.e. the side panels that hold the paniers or the seats, will have to be removed too. and the side panels have bits covered by the bits that go up to the roof.
When I did mine, I bought a special trim removing kit, but there are screws you'll also need to remove.
It is time consuming and a bit of a pain. I did it so a bloke doing welding could disconnect the pipes from the top of the tank.

Job done. Once the plain strip was off the screws came out fairly easily and the last piece of trim came off. I had planned to just lift the carpet slightly to look underneath but it turns out a previous owner had cut the carpet just under the edge of the folded seats so it came up easily and folded back and I didn't have to touch any other trim. I was then able to check the floor for damp. The right hand side was wet as was the area by the door to a lesser extent and there were some small patches of rust. I dried it all off and left the carpet folded up so the foam could dry off. I'm assuming this has come from my leaky sunroofs.

I've uploaded some pictures in case other newbies are looking to do the same thing.

I was feeling pretty pleased with myself and when Jayne came out I went to show her what I had done.....and the tailgate handle came off in my hand. One step forward, two steps back.

Quite a few peeps cut it along the edges of the trim, and it MAY be possible to pull it out from under the trim then tuck it back in. But that is only something you find out once you've done it properly!
Anyway, glad you found out what you needed to find out.
Sorry about the door handle.:(:(:(

Hi, mine was also damp on the r/h side but the water was leaking in through perished side window seal so I used some Sikaflex 221 & run some round the window.
