As above, I'm buying some new wheels/tyres in the next few days, I like the idea of 255/85/16's for a std height 90, but will they rub?
Yes, I've done searches!!

I did a lot of searching when I was looking for a wheel and tyre package a few weeks back but didn't think of or see for sale 255/85/16's?

I can say 235/85/16's and 265/75/16's fit fine without a lift.

I went for 235/85/16's as it seems to be the most popular and the most recommended for my needs (road and green lanes with a bit of off road)

If they do rub then a slight adjustment of the lock stops at the very most. I had to do that when changing from 7.50x16 to 238/85.

My 265/75/16 do not rub (offset mods) on a standard 110 with worn suspension.
Let us know how you get on. I was planning on changing to 255/85/16 once the current tyres are worn out.
Only 0.75" increase in side wall height.

Mines not lifted, and on KM2 255/85R16's. I've got 30mm wheelspacers and they don't rub. They are superb under all conditions, have done 40k miles on them and there's still loads of tread. Ok they are expensive, but deffo worth every penny. If you can afford them, you woont regret getting them.

Thanks for above replies....
I'm now considering 285/75/16's as an alternative, I'm a bloody nightmare!

The first number e.g. 285 refers to the tyre width
The second number e.g. 85 refers to the side wall height
The third number e.g. 16 refers to the rim size

yep, ta, just wondered what's the biggest tyre that'll fit a standard 90 without rubbing either on the arches or lock stops (I know theyre are adjustable to a certain extent)
255/85/16 fill them vertically nicely but that limits it to Bfg's mud terrain, 285 fill the arch the other way, 265's are a compromise I guess?

I found this helpful when researching tyres:
Visual Tyre Size Calculator | Kouki Tech

I can't believe you've got away without a roasting for asking what are the biggest tyres you can fit!

Thanks Lowlight, I must admit I was expecting a bit of a telling off! I know tyre questions are a bit of a taboo subject to bring up on here but advice is sometimes important even if its been covered before.
I did do searches but there didn't seem to be a definitive answer, not that I could find anyway!
I've had 265/75/16 before on a 90, but the kumho's I want are out of stock anywhere, so wondered if 285's would fit without a problem.
No doubt somebody will be along to shout at me soon!

He hasn't (see below) :D

You haven't :D

It has been covered before.

USE the fu*king search button  :( :D ;)

Right,

As has been said if they rub on full lock you can either fit spacers or turn the lock stops out a little. Rubbing in the arches is a bit of an open ended question, for normal road driving with no load then 37" boggers wont rub. But as soon as you encounter a speed bump your in trouble. :D

When i bought my fender it came with 285/75/16's and when i took it to wales laning it used to bind in the arches. After fitting a 2" lift it dosent rub as often, only on serious terrain.

You could also fit extended bump stops to stop wheel bind.

Cheers BGB, and thanks for being 'nice' and not shouting too much!
I think i'll stick to 265/75/16's, I've found a local guy with some Kumho's so I'll be getting them fitted on Monday. Better safe than sorry.
