replaced the interior lights with some leds, yeh i know cheap ones

turned them on and the centre colsole light started to smoke

removed them quick

that will teach me not to buy decent ones and being a skint flint

just wished to say for some reason the D3 is really sensitive

will remove the centre console light cluster and see what the wires are like , it only smoked for about 3 x seconds and was right underneath it, so disconnected the bulbs quick time

all good fun

AFAIK the D3 has a CANBUS electrical system.
Also another thing to check with internal LEDs, I presume they were "festoon" fitting, is that the heat sink on the back of them is isolated from ground

only got myself to blame , the word assumed entered my brain and thought there be fine , not

see i will have to buy ones , that i are like a led board

here's a pic of them, the supposedly can bus error free ones are the ones on the right

Be careful with LEDs full stop Gary. The D3 uses the CCU to drive the bulbs. The use of LEDs isn't recommended as it confuses the system. So called CAN BUS LESs simply have a low value resistor across the contacts. This makes the LED appear like a normal bulb to the CCU. The problem is, a resistor doesn't behave like a normal bulb filament. All CAN BUS LEDs do is get very hot and melt things.
You are better off using my interior light mod to improve the D3 lighting ;)

well took my light out and stripped it apart , as it kept working then not working

didn't wish to leave it , just case it caused a serious problem

the led earthing out must have caused this , can see a really small capacitor style thing, where the screwdriver is pointing to

also in the pic can see where smoke has gone onto the plastic casing , that will easily wipe off

sent everything over to amazon , see what they say

this is the report i got back from my diagnostic report

will have to just get a second hand light assembly
