Love my free lander but have an electric issue I’m hoping someone can assist with or maybe just a newbie issue
When I put the vehicle in reverse the rear wiper goes on. I’m I missing some obvious control or is it a mis wiring?

The Freelander back door and its workings are a complex beast.

If the window doesn't drop you can't open the door and need to take the door cover off to fix it, but you need the door open to take the cover off

The switch in the handle comes from an airfix kit, but that's OK, cos the whole handle is likely to come off in your hand before even the switch breaks.

If the car thinks the wiper isn't sitting on the rubber strip, it won't open the window (see above what that means!) - and likewise, if the car doesn't think the window is closed the wiper won't work.

The earthing points for the back door and light electrics, have a characteristic of not earthing.

If the electrics work properly, it means the regulator for the back window can chew itself to bits (see above what that means!).

I'm sure I've not covered the complete "character" of the Freelander back end, but....
Says something doesn't it, something works properly and you think it's broken :D
... we definitely do not need any "more character" :D

I used to nave some fun and games with my freelander back door, it was like a krypton factor challenge some days.

Thanks guys, just the right hint of sarcasm
My first Landy, thanks for being gentle x
We do do sarcasm. ;)
The auto rear wioer isn't just a landy thing, I've had loads of vehicles over the years that put the rear wiper on when reverse is selected. Actually it's odd not to see this useful function on a modern car, but strangely our Mazda CX5 didn't have it, even though it had every other gizmo imaginable, including a rear camera.
