Leaky Disco

Headliner isn't wet. Fixed that by sealing up sunroof. Carpet is wet.

Ok...

you need to look on the underside of the car, in line with the wing, its there, another way i found it was with compressed air/blow gun, i also already had the carpet out and the Bottom A post/footwell trim off,

Unless they are blocked ! In which case they overflow into the passenger compartment and soak the front carpet(s).

Ok then why and how do they get blocked? as my AC has never been touched and still doing its job.

Terrible logic. By your 'reasoning' (I use the term loosely) then just because you have never had a puncture, no-one else has.

OK, have made progress.
Still unable to find drain holes at base of A pillar but while I was looking underneath I checked the 2 Air Con drain points. Masses of water came out when I poked a wire in so hopefully I may be at least part of the way to solving this issue.
I have removed trim to lift the carpets and boy does that sound insulation material hold water! Floor underneath looks very sound, no rust so hopefully no lasting harm done.

Air conditioning drains blocked. I rest my case! Now you are faced with two options...stuff newspaper up underneath the carpet to try and absorb the water...it will take a long time.

Or take out the seats and centre console and carpets and do a proper job!! It is easy.

Discool can eat my shorts !!!

And find the carpets were the floor

You can make a discrete cut on the carpet and remove it, has been on here many times, took mine out when it was wet and it weighed a ton, or turn it back and put a fan heater, problem is if it catches fire you need to have something to stoke it and keep it going and burn the fooker to the ground, no wet carpets any more, unless the fire brigade come out, sunday double time for them!! lol:biggrin1:

There is no quick fix on water leaks on a disco
Do it properly and you will never have any trouble again

Strip it out

Seal the slots off in the roof gutters

Remove and reseal the roof bars

Mine was leaking from this grommet inside behind the fuel flap

And the loom grommet "same area"

The sunroof leaks from where this plastic part joins the gutter or the pipe comes away from this


Leak from Wire clip behind the rear lamps

Leaks from Front door loom to A post grommet

Leaking from roof gutter seam round top of front screen

And last but the most likely is blocked A post drain
If you remove the bottom 10mm wing to A post bolt like this and water comes out then it's blocked the drain is behind the wing liner I just drilled a hole in bottom outer part of,the A post

After doing all this I never had a water/damp problem ever again

i did but it hasn't shown up on the camera, i will do it properly monday

Found a good way to dry the carpets-
Stick the nozzle of the vaccum cleaner under the carpet, on the blow setting. Works a treat!

Have you located and fixed the leak, or leaks?

My AC drains were blocked. I'll see if the carpet stay dry next time it rains.

Good luck then mate. Nothing worse than chasing a leak.

Sorry for the thread hijack.

My roof was fine. Until I opened it. Now when driving I can hear the wind coming in. And the rain. Say no more.
