leaky disco

Am i the only person to have bought a disco that leaks when its rains, when i first bought the car, it was like a bloody sieve, water coming from interior lights, and i also had a water fall on rear pillars, (oh joy) i did a bit of research on this, and found out that dodgy alpine windows where the main cause of this problem, even tho they looked in good order, so naturally out came the silicone gun since putting a bead of silicone around all the window seals have (touch wood) stopped the problem

not really mate it seems to be a fairly common fault on most disco 1's just out of interest keep an eye on the sunroofs aswell as they have a little drainage hole in the front corners that can easily block especialy if you park the vehicle under trees they can usualy be cfleared with a wire coathanger pushed down them kinda like rodding a drain but a lot more gentle

got in mine this morning and there was a load of water around the pedals any ideas where the is best to start siliconing? and yes my safari windows ar like niagara falls too.

thanks for that johnny will have a look at my sunroofs later today. And lyndon i would do all your windows, make sure you clean behind the seals first, and use proper window silicone you can pick this up from any automotive shops also check your door rubbers if there a puddle down near your pedals, mine has'nt done that, and id also have a good look for any signs of rot down there aswell.

I had problem with sunroofs and stuff ... duct tape fixed it for me haha

They can leak at just about every window/door/gutter/interface with the body shell.
Check the roofbars, mine let shed loads through the sponge mounts which ran water back to rear corners. Also gutters had corroded, leak through one of the alpines and top plastic trim which covers windscreen. oh, also both sides of bulkhead where wiring looms come into front of cabin. The only one I can't find now is passenger footwell pretty sure it's coming from side panel behind the wing

oh and did I mention both sunroof drains!..
