Leaking Tailgate RR Sport

Hi

Local dealer cannot find the issue cause of getting water drain out once the tailgate opens. Runs off the catch and the boot opening button has water around it. They suggested the back window needs to come out and be resealed. Local window company say they’ve never had to do this with this car before. Battery warning sign showing up. Dealer tested and said it needs replacing. Independent garage say nothing wrong with it! 63 plate. Low mileage. Any suggestions please? Thanks.

The water problem will need to be looked at by the dealer body shop as opposed to the engine mechanics. The body shop should have come across this problem before as we had someone else in the last few weeks new in ere with the same fault. We get a small flow of peeps askig the same question.

Get a watering can and fill it with water. On a dry day tip some over the top of only side of the tail gate. Then see if water runs out after a while, when opening the tale gate. Then try doing the same to the other side. Kind of a process of elimination. Do you use car washes or jet spray the car? That could be causing the issue. Also look at the rubber pipes where cables enter the tailgate, if there are any. Also plastic/rubber plug sealing holes. Do they have leak out holes at the bottom of the tailgate? I don't have a RRS so don't know.
