hi all my 04 td4 is leaking fuel somewhere from the injection pump only when the engine is running. the bind is i cant see exactly where unless i remove the intake manifold. the pump looks wet at the back (nearest side to the block). is the pump serviceable. if so where can i order a kit from. also is it powered by the timing chain or by a gear from inside the engine. is there any special tools i will need. thanks ben

ok i now know somewhere that sells the pump remover tool but i need somewhere that sells a seal seal kit. any suggestions, im in mansfield

Google to find a nearby Bosch service centre

Pump is a CP1, seal kit part no. is F01M101454 and should be about £12.

If not try a Merc dealer, similar pump fitted to sprinter.

Failing that try Diesel Bob (google) only thing is they charged someone about £40 for a kit.

Excellent help mate. I'll try Andrew page with that part no as Bosch themselves seem to think they never supplied a pump for a freelander?! thanks again

thanks again for the help. i've got the kit coming for tomorrow from andrew page but the guys on ebay selling the special tool say theyve sold out so still looking for a place i can pick one up from coz its gotta be fixed by the weekend.

update. i've removed the pump and fitted new seals in all 3 of the caps, only to find once refitting that the cap facing the radiator is now leaking but the original one (nearest the block) is not. i removed it again and checked the seals were sat right and refitted still to find it leaks when the engine runs. do i have a duff seal or do these caps have to be extremely tight, Any idea on torque as i just did them ft. im considering buying a recon/used working pump but moneys tight so if anyone has one going cheap i can collect asap. thanks all

Sorry no idea of correct torque, just use common sense. Check the surfaces for any cracks, dirt or imperfections that could be keeping them apart

ok i think/hope ive sorted it now. having removed and refitted it 3 times in total its now stopped leaking. i ended up restripping the pump and cleaning the surfaces with wet and dry and tightening the screws as tight as i dare without stripping the threads. for anyone thinking of trying this make sure you have an assortment of short socket set bars to get to the very awkward bottom pump nut as this adds ages to the job, and use silicone to hold the nut onto the socket because it can drop down a hole which you struggle to get it back from. thanks for your help.

Yes the tool is a must. It cost me 40 from franklin in Sheffield who make them. That's coz the person selling them on eBay shows 3 on stock but doesn't actuall have any. Give me a shout if you need help
