Hi guys, I need to take the battery of so I can remove the dash cluster from my 2001 vogue with navigation.

Now the official procedure is to loosen the clamps cycle the ignition and remove the negative lead within 17 seconds to avoid having alarm and eka issues. However the navigation computer takes at least 30 seconds or more to shut down so how can I do this without having to use the eka or risking ruining the mk3 in the boot?

My thoughts are to remove the drive and disconnect it from the car and then go through he battery removal procedure. I can't seem to find any reference in any owners manual to removing the battery from a car with navigation.

your idea of waiting for the unit to sleep then unplug...then doing the battery disconnect process would no doubt be the safest way....

Maybe it was something LR didn't think of when writing the O&M Manuals.

+1, disconnect the drive after 2 minutes (wait for red light to go out). Then disconnect battery as official procedure.
