after noon all.
just got back from doing a few local lanes with mate in disco. nothing to serious (still got raod tyres on her) thought i would put up a few photos.
didnt have any major brake downs just roof rack removed from disco by a low branch (was about head light level) and war pig ( my series 3) went through a puddle a little to fast so had to wait for her to dry out.

Was around Southwell. These a few more we've seen in east Bridgeford going to try them when I've got me petrol tank fitted.

Hi all,

I've just got myself an old defender 90 and I was wondering could help me out with a bit more info about where to go near notts?

I'm a student at the university at the moment.

Sorry for the noob question - I'm new to the forum.

I'd be looking to take the car out the odd weekend preferably somewhere close to the city.

I know its a lot to ask but if someone had any routes they'd be willing to share that would be greatly appreciated.

Many thanks fot the help in advance,

Alastair

ya better off keeping a eye on the green lane section, look out for trips in derbyshire , bakewell, buxton areas, some great lanes , with great views.... 95% of them are ok in a standard landy.:) or join local clubs...

I've never seen anyone else up there nice and quiet. There are some more over in east Bridgeford you tried them yet?

No i havnt been too any in east bridgford??, have you been too the one that runs at the side of mansfield desert thats not a bad drive just dont venture off the track as alot do because the police patrole all the time.

No, thought that hole area was out of bounds, will have a look which side do you get to it 614 side or quarry side ?

yes mate off the 614 theres a sign at the start warning you about off road activity but your deffo aloud on the lane because iv spoken too the two police officers that patrol them they drive a blue 90 with roll cage on.

If you are going down desert lane mate stay between mansfield and the bridges halfway down. Some old girl at the 614 end been putting nails on wood in the sand down bottom end took 3 of my mates tyres few week back. If your ever down that way give me a shout mate.

I service the Nottinghamshire off road squad ktm's at work and one off the officers came in today and confirmed that the lane is legal just don't venture off it, he then added that if you do go off the lane there's nobody to stop you cause the funding for the off road squad has been cut and the bikes are up for sale.
Please don't take this as permision to go up the desert and drive off the lane that will only cause future problems for the new owner who is trying to get permission to turn it into a pay and play site. This is only a rumoured, and this site has had many rumours like this in the past, but fingers crossed

Oh ok deegan it would make a mint pay and play as all the hills and water are there oready! how i came too speak to the two officers in the 90 is i was driving the lane and spotted them stuck in their 90 on the desert so they gave me permission too g on and
pull them out well chuffed:) i was fishing for the enviroment agency afew weeks ago on top of the desert when a bloke came in a shogun claiming it was his land but after afew phone calls it was ok so maybe their is a new land owner:confused::confused:

its about time they did sumit with the desert, its a cracking site, such a shame its going to waste.... they could make a killing .....

Keeping fingers crossed mate. The copper that told me said he knows the guy and he will let me know what's happening.
As soon as war pigs running again going to have a drive up, see how it's changed, not been there for many years
