Landy through/under up-and-over door?

Does anyone park their landy in a single garage through and up-and-over door?

I see you can get 7' tall doors, but wonder if this is enough room by the time the door lays flat under the lintel, or you've a 2" lift/bigger tyres etc.

I know you're not going to get a snorkel wearing, lifted beast with 33's on, but....?

yes i do park mine in the garage, i have a 7ft door. I have an ex-mod 90 with XD springs, its a soft top and i have to drop the rear hoop if i drive it in forwards or i cant shut the door. width wise is fine, loads of room. I measured up lots of vehicles before buying mine and a 110 wont fit in due to the rear being higher.

If i reverse in i can just squeeze under, i mean literally its about 1mm, if i reverse using just the clutch i can just get in, if i use the accelerator to move faster it raises the back and i cant fit in.

The bit i foul on is the screw that holds the internal handle to the inside of the garage door, it clears the rest of the door by about 10mm.

I got a soft top as i knew it would fit in, i doubt i could fit a hardtop in my garage. Although the aperture for the door is sufficiently large so i could change the door for a roller shutter, or raise the door in the frame by 25mm or so to give me the clearance but i cant be arsed......

here it is in backwards

other things i considered were to use ratchet straps between the axle and chassis to force it lower, then release them when in the garage, fit smaller tyres (i have 7.50x16) but in the end it a 2 min job to drop the rear soft top bar

my new place has a double garage with 2 up and over doors, i have a feeling my fender on 33's and a 2" lift int gonna make it in

Luckily the lintels both need replacing so i might be able to get new doors and make them higher

Can't you raise the track that takes the door so as to gain a little height to clear handle?
Or run tyres softer

My 90 is 84 inches with roof rack btw

Thank you for your reply - I thought it was going to be tight, but at 7' (I think most doors are 6' 6" tall) I though it would be ok!

yeah i can and i am planning to do it, but havent got around to it and its not a priority, the landy isnt my daily driver and SWMBO has got me doing a garden makeover

I manage with a SIIa 109 on 7.50s. I have a piece of wood screwed to the floor, if I hit that its in the right place and I can get the garage door shut. Any further forward and it blocks the door to the house, and further back and the up and over bangs on the roof. Again it clears the door catch by mm, so no lift or parabolics for me!

I can just get my 2a in my garage and it sits about 3" higher than standard

but i have to take the back wheels off and drive it in on some rims!

I can get the rangie in. It does though no longer have the mini Ariel on the roof,
that disappeared one day when I didnt open the door fully.

The lightweight fits if I take the rear softtop down

When we move I'll be building an 8ft high garage and play it safe lol, I'll fit hinged doors then theres no problems.

I'd be tempted to hire a Sthil saw and cut two 12" wide slits in the slab - knock out the middle and drive in and out as you please. Of course you have some added security as it is

They weren't very considerate to us landy owners when the standard was set for garage door heights!

Makes sense. I've got to keep my garage build as low as poss to keep the neighbours happy (we like them too

), but I might be able to push it up to 7'..

i would have zero problems if i had a side hinged door, but i dont and i am not changing it. My aperture is 7foot (well a bit more with the lintel) with a side higned door i reckon it would fit but measure carefully!!

It only goes in there for repairs so not too bad,the girlfriends car is in there normaly.
The garage is going to be extended backwards about 5 foot so I can get the disco in and close the door and also the roof is going to be raised by about a foot because even with the series in there I can't jack it up as it hits the roof so not much use really apart from i can work on it when it's raining
