Hi,

A few weeks ago when I took my car through the automatic car wash, the rear brush went under the spare wheel on the back and actually lifted the car up in the air before it dropped off. Quite a weird experience! I checked for damage afterwards and it appears to be fine.

I assume automatic car washes are fine for 4x4s in general? Anyone else encountered this before? I'm still surprised it was able to lift the back up into the air!

Cheers

Rich

My local jet wash (tescos) doesn't even allow 4x4's - something to do with the mud.

Sorry. doesn't really answer your question though.

I always take mine through an automatic car wash despite the incident I mentioned. Otherwise it takes me bloody ages to clean my heap. The silly bumpers are a nightmare to clean. You clean it, think it's clean, wait for it to dry off and then the dirt shows up again!

in the owners manual for the freelander, it specifically states to not take a 3 door through the car wash. although yours looks like a 5 door ?

dunt mention doors falling off though

whys a freelander got mud on it??

Thats why ;)

the rear brush cant tell where car stops and spare wheel biggins.Take it to an arc if ya want it washed by machine

Prob is, by the time I've driven it to my nearest Arc, it will be dirty by the time I got it home again!

Don't all 3 doors have removable roofs? I'm pretty sure the reason they say don't go through is because it forces water under the roof and leaks.
We used to have a shogun sport too and it had a spoiler. It said not to take that through either but I did a million times. They just put that in the manual and at the car wash so if it does happen then it's not their fault.
