We are all very surprised that it is "fixed" because more often than not the vehicles entering there leave in lots of smaller pieces that are sold as "parts" and the owners never see their vehicles again.

Congratulations on your "Win" are your partner and his mates all "BIG" lads by any chance?

If it was mine i would put it into a garage to get them to check the work done. The engine scammers who are the focus of this fred, are not known for doing reliable good work.

Good to hear yrr got it back and it can propell itself.
 
Wonder if they have turned over a new leaf? May get an invertation for a tour of their operation, with tea and biscuits.
 
These companies are all run by the same crooks. For £1 you can buy one of their eBay adverts and ruin the credibility. Not only is it the truth but it also helps vent the tiniest bit of anger towards them!!!

Hi,
I came across this thread in a google after we have also been scammed by the Telford Garage.
In our case, a 'gentleman' named Stanislav Zazeckij trading under the name Sovereign Automotive but clearly all part of the same group.
Same story as so many above but we managed to get our vehicle back but the reconditioned engine we paid for is knackered and fully broke down within 40 miles.
Would anyone with cases raised with citizens advice or action fraud be willing to send me a case number or keyword I could mention to them so I can get our claim linked to all of these others?
And I'm assuming we have no hope of getting our £5k back?
 
If anyone comes across this thread and has been scammed by these guys - please report to action fraud. If you include my reference number, it will make it easier for them to link all our cases together:

Sovereign Automotive was a previous name they used. When you say the recon engine is broken, whats wrong with it? Did they get you to sign a contract when purchasing the recon engine and fitting service? Did you pay by credit card or bank transfer? Have you contacted them to advise the vehicle is broken?
 
At least he got his vehicle back. I don't think the O/P who started this thread ever saw his £20,000 Discovery 4 again.

Apparently there's a lot of them at the premises so you'd need probably dozens of people to stand any chance of, well, winning.

And sadly a fist fight probably wouldn't solve anything anyway except to get you arrested. Don't forget these people aren't really committing any crimes, which is where the problem lies.

They are effectively (in the eyes of the law and trading standards) just a bad garage with lots of complaints about their work.

ln the case of vehicles not returned it's usually after arguments about payment so it can't legally be stated that they've stolen the vehicle.

Hi, thanks for your reply.
We had taken our pickup truck to a legitimate local garage who advised it needed a reconditioned engine fitting and a new turbo. The legit garage found Sovereign online and after a video tour of the garage and a phone call, believed them to be all above board and it was the legit garage who commissioned the work. We agreed this with the legit garage but didn't sign anything ourselves. They collected the truck and we paid an upfront payment by bank transfer and then another payment when told the work was completed. At this point sovereign stopped answering all calls and messages. We managed to track them down in Telford to the garage pictured in photos above and when my husband insisted he collect the vehicle, they took us to a car wash nearby where it was after having been cleaned. We collected the vehicle but it broke down within 30 miles, we had it recovered to the original legit garage who say that the turbo has not been replaced, of the 5 injectors which should have been replaced, only 1 has. There is a new ominous knocking sound also.
We called Sovereign as soon as the breakdown occurred - no answer or response then or until now. We've sent formal letter of complaint etc.
Bank won't refund as it was paid via 2 bank transfers.

Any advice very gratefully received! I'm appalled that the police are allowing them to continue trading

Did you pay the first legit garage or Sovereign? They pick new names when the old one gets tarnished with their poor reputation. The car wash collection is a trick they use to hide their new location. They don't want the Sunbeam scam to be linked to their new Telford location. When did you get the car back and how long did they have it?

We paid Sovereign directly. We collected the car on 30th August, the had had it since mid-June for work they claimed would take 4 weeks. It wasn't until we started chasing them that they said it had been completed and asked for payment and promised to deliver the truck back to the original garage but as soon as we paid, radio silence.
 
Re my previous post

The Police can't do anything unless a crime has been committed. lt's not a crime to do a crap repair job on a vehicle, it's a matter for Trading Standards

Sadly the company changes name regularly so Trading Standards are continually chasing their tail.

This has been going on for at least a decade with these particular engine reconditioners. lt's all over various forums not just this one.
