hi
I had a 2012 discovery 4 hse ….great machine but engine packed up so local garage quoted to high so saw post on ebay for a garage in wales who would come pick up and did a 10 day turnaround....prior to sending down I asked for video of garage and all looked good..vehicle left and few days later was sent a video of jeep on ramp and engine on the deck in bits with a failed dpf filter so after paying out 8k In total and awaited delivery.. contact went cold after a week and jeep is long gone ...A 19k vehicle vehicle and 8k gone and police cant do much as this is in England as im in scotland..have police involved but a slow process .After researching myself I have located it to 5 sunbeam street Wolverhampton and trading under smart reconditioning on ebay under many adverts..so if anyone wants info on this garage before sending their pride and joy down give me a email ...the guy who dealt with it was a man called manni thandi...very persuasive wee man but a robbing !!! with it …
if you go on site jabber and reserch the business reconditioned-engines you will see what the score is..im not the first but seem to be getting away with it …
google the address and you will see the garage around the back of the building with the white merc that picked mine up ….garage phone number is 01654749201..mobile 07729882272
SO BE AWARE ……
ANY INFO WITH THIS CREW WOULD BE APPRECIATED AND WORD OF MOUTH GOES A LONG WAY ..
MAIN ADVERTS ON EBAY ARE UNDER SMART RECONDITIONING..AD NO 123519734239 AND ARE NINE OTHER ADS FOR SAME PLACE BUT DIFFERENT LOCATIONS..THEY HAVE VIRTUAL OFFICES AND ARE ALL LINKED TO THIS GARAE AT 5 SUNBEAM STREET WOLVERHAMPTON

THANKS FOR READING ..
BUT ANY HELP MUCH APPRECIATED
HOPE NO ONE ELSE GETS RIPPED OF ...

Must have been in the same class as Edward Barrington / Edward Fear.

I think he is out again now, and up to his old tricks, so another one to watch out for.

To the op - did you make any of the payment by credit card? If so, section 75 of the consumer credit act will be your friend.

If not, maybe hire someone's time local to the area to see if they can't spot your motor. If you get a sighting, get it moved before it's gone for good?

Yer need to add the garage location post code. I assume it is:

5 Sunbeam St, Wolverhampton WV2 4LX

If yer vehicle has effectively been stolen then yer need to list up it's details. Reg plate and colour. If you think it's being stripped or converted then put up the vin plate, engine number and gearbox number. All written on the v5 log book.

We also need to know the cars colour and approx mileage. Anything special about it anorl.

Have you told yer insurance? It's been taken from you by deception. They have their own investigaters and must have come across this problem before.

The police have a special car crime unit. Have you had yer talks with the police passed over to them?

First off if the sent you a video of a jeep, when you had given them a Disco, you should have known there was an issue, straight away. Secondly, as we dont know you from Adam, you could just be a competitor , out to rujn their reputation. First post to slag someone off and all that malarky.
That bit out of the way .If you are genuine, sorry for your loss, hope you get it sorted. I hope the following is of help: it doesnt matter if you are in Scotland and the vehicle is in England. If you have the evidence, the vehicle is stolen and police can deal. You report it to Police Scotland and they liase with West Midlands. If you are being told anything else , kick up a stink and ask to speak to the local DCI explaining you will go higher if necessary.
As you know who and where they are, get started on proceedings yourself. Send a signed for letter to the named owner at the address you have. You will need to show you have taken all reasonable steps to contact them. If you phone them, record all conversations. If you decide to go to Wolverhampton, ( and I sure as hell know I would) record all interactions. You can vuy a very discreet bodycam for £50 from Conbrov , online. It not only gives evidence of the interaction, it will help you keep your temper, as it is also evidence against anything you do.
Oh and as you did it through Ebay, report them and have Ebay step in.
Also no need for people to email you for details . You've posted them all

P.s have you reported it stolen to your insurance yet?

There are a few things in that post that don't ring true.

Not wishing to be an old cynic again, but I thought that too.

For a start, how can the cost of transport from the Isle of Skye possibly be less than getting the fault fixed locally?

However, I guess we could give him the benefit of the doubt, and accept that he is just someone very, very, naive, in more ways than one.

Depends on how gullible the OP is, transport @ £1/mile would be a few thou at a guess but if it's a scam then ultimately it just needs someone with a high trust level and has had a good experience with every internet interaction, besides Amazon and eBay can do free delivery you knows ;)

Local landrover garage quoted 20500 to fit a new engine as at time thought Was siezed so no way could afford that so this garage offered 3995 with a serviceable block which was only option to me finance wise but reading posts after researching it seems to be a common fault he tells everyone with a dpf filter....
Reading comments left there is no malicious reporting in this.... I just got unlucky and went to wrong garage.. Just wouldn't want this happening to anyone else... The police have put a report In Down south but if its a big scale theft then its not going to be a next day thing to sort out... Learnt since then they were In court jam with selling stolen cars and police know about them but how they Continue to trade... I don't know...

Your post is unclear. If it was a blocked DPF, you might be able to clear it with additive, and use better quality fuel in future.
If not, pattern DPFs are available for most vehicles more than a few years old, probably about £500 for that.

If the engine was seized, £3995 to fit a replacement block is probably a good deal.

Having dealt with a rogue myself, in regards my engine, I feel for you. However, I managed to find my rogue in Glasgow and ended up around £4k out of pocket.
It is a shame you did not find our happy band before sending your vehicle to Wales/England, as there are several independent specialists, who could have been recommended, in Scotland. Should you buy another green oval , we would be happy to share the knowledge with you. On the promise from yourself that you learn the difference between a Disco /all green oval and a jeep ;)

Hi yip sounds a good price.. I took it was seized as driving down road vehicle seized and engine stopped.. Wouldnt turn over so pressumed seized.. Wasn't until guy sent me video of it on ramp and engine out saying that dpf WaS blocked and back pressured to engine and damaged it so Had to take his word as WaS very convincing.. Might have been siezed but first time I've heard of this dpf fault.. End of day I been scammed and hopefully insurance will pay out to get another but just wanted to warn others as no a nice thing to happen to anyone...
I said a jeep but yip it's a landrover and I just call it a jeep... I'm no the first and won't be the last....

If you intend staying we respectfully request that you stop calling it such. Otherwise you will find certain members are a lot sharper of the tongue than I have been so far.
