While on the motorway in my 200 tdi disco engine conversion 1987 90 is at it's top speed at 50 mph. Anything above 50 it is revving too high for comfort.

Also while driving along at this speed I often have a convoy behind me on single track roads and other landrovers (defenders) overtake me like I'm hardly moving lol.

I don't mind traveling at this speed chilling our with the stereo on and enjoying the ride but how are they going at this speed? Is it a different transfer box?

Cheers tom.

what have you got in atm, standard 1.4?

maybe a 1.6?, but i thought they were 110 only unless someone has stuck on in.

only masks the issue madhatman.

the 90 with a 200tdi should be doing more than 50.

my 90 with the stock lt77 and transfer box did 75 with the old 2.5TD

if it only does 50 with the 200tdi ill be putting the 2.5TD back in;)

with a 1.6 lt230 i think it would be starting to scream when it gets to 55ish

he needs to crawl under and have a butchers at what he's got imo :)

Iv just crawled under and had a good look I can't see any sticker on for the ratio - I even took the middle seat out and looked from the top!

All I could see was the letters/numbers stamped on:

Frc6104 KVM 1a

Can this tell me anything?

the 1.6 was mil spec towing diffs ? my mates 110 has them in. its rapid through the gears but slow at top end.

yeah, but early 110's had them too.

yep, is yours like that?

edit: sorry got confused, thought you were the op ;)

My tuned 90 accelerates nicely but doesn't like going past 60. It will do 70 odd but not happily. I'm on 31" tyres. Does that sound right?

smaller than 235/85s so not really.

it depends though.. is it the engine or does it feel unstable? i need to redo the bushes on mine as over 65 is starts to get unstable.

My 90 is exactly the same, Disco 200TDI with what I presume is the original box. Very good on acceleration, you shoot through the first 3 gears and get up to 30 quite quick, but once your up to 5th you will get about 65 tops out of it and its in the ear protection range at that.

you need to check your transfer boxes and diffs then.

mines on stock 1987 1.410 transfer box and the original diffs and would sit at 65 quid happy. and at 75 the temperature gauge gets excited.

really hope i dont loose that with the 200tdi "upgrade" :d

22D is a 1.410.

what diffs you got on ? has it had the popular disk rear conversion ?

from ashcroft

You are looking for Eg. "28D123456E", we are interested in the first two and the last, i.e. we call this a "28E". Please have a look in the LT230 Technical Section to find a list of Serial numbers / Ratios.

So his would be 22C which err doesn't seem to exist?

edit: or does it mean 22D suffix C .. which makes mores sense
