Dose any one actually make a diff /axle with an out put shaft to drive another axle in the land rover /van weight category

I used to but Ive lost the will to live, though currently foley sv are supplying a ex ashcroft design over axle for about £5000

its a 6x4 only drives 4 wheels cant see the point just adding weight,a dear old friend of mine whos sadly passed built a proper 6x6 some 10 years ago and was a mission, I recall the centre axle had to be heavily modified with another front diff case welded on the rear of diff case and was also fitted with freewheeling hubs which had to be switched to actually achive 6 wheel drive.6x6 was not permanent and could only be used for a limited time to avoid wind-up but worked well

Commercial vehicles have a center diff set up in the first drive axle (the same as landy center diff) how did you archive this

Asking out of interest:D

How many lorries you see with a lift axle and one drive axle?
Seen on the 6x6 build on here it is a pass through front diff with short slip shaft to rear diff hard to see in a photo

agreed on a lorry/tractor unit/8 wheeler etc to carry the extra load but on a lr 90 why:confused: as standard it weighs say 1600kg & gvw say about 2600kg so can carry 1000kg, now this has extra chassis + axle easily a extra 500kg meaning it will only carry a mere 500kg legally ,that's a lot of work to carry half the weight it was when standard, now it says uprated 5 ton if this is so it will need a different class of mot + possible tacho/o-licence/c-1 driving licence so whats the point

With that vehicle and the box on it would say it hauled light fluffy stuff like grass clipping, or mulch, or even potted plants/ shrubs for a landscaping/nursery business

My mate has one similar for his landscape/tree felling business, take a couple of tons and more with ease, has air bags inside the springs to help with the weight.:)
