I am now up and running in a 54 plate TD5 90. This is a base model hard top and as such doe snot currently have any stereo fitted. I have not yet dismantled the dash to investigate but having done some research I am lead to believe there will be a radio plug integrated but unused in the loom behind the dash and I just need an ISO adapter loom to utilize this plug with an aftermarket stereo. I am happy with fitting a wiring speakers as I have done that before in my 110.

What I am struggling with currently is the physical nature of fitting stereo into the dash panel. I currently have the storage pocket in the dash (pic to follow) as was, wrongly it seems, assuming I would just be able to buy a facia adapter to fit instead and then fit a single din headunit (pioneer MVH-S520BT is currently favorite). It seems the single din facia adapter is now discontinued and I cannot see anyone else making or selling them. Is this correct?

This leads me to believe my options are either the raptor or mudstuff complete double din facia panels, again is the correct? If it is and that is what i am stuck with i will go down the mud stuff route as it looks more original and will have to decide if I want to use the single din adapter pocket or choose a double din stereo instead. Due to the reasons for having the 90 in the first place and a wedding in a few weeks funds are tight and I was hoping fitting a radio would be a cheap endeavor with a headunit, speakers, loom adaptor, and fascia adapter costing a total of about £200. It looks like this is not the case. The dash facia from mud (link) is £150 alone and then if I am going to fit a double din I would want one that has bluetooth apple carplay otherwise there seems to be no advantage over a single din unit.

Does any one have any current information on if it is possible to get hold of the original land rover fascia or if the Mud adapter is my only option. I know Newbury is coming in September but I cannot wait that long and need handsfree as soon as possible, and the long journey i do are hard work without entertainment!

The originals are like hens teeth, probably because they break so easily. Amazon have some double to single DIN options that might work?

Good luck with the mission…..

Mud stuff do a double to single Conversion to fit their console. But it just looks like either it is going to cost a lot of money or I will End up With something universal which doesn’t quite fit correctly.
