I have always thought that the two go together very well... both Icons in their own rights and both encapsulating that adventurous spirit for over 7 decades!

Anyone else out there have any pictures or stories of these two classics?

Great idea, when do we start? I've been looking at Airstreams - the old ones in rough condition seem to be good value if you buy in the States, there are all sorts of web discussions about the axles, hitch, brakes etc but they all seem solvable. The show stoppers for me are storage - we live in a town centre, and destinations - you can't set off with a 24ft Airstream and not have a very good idea where you are going to stop for the night. We set off in the LWB camper and can pretty much stop anywhere in "stealth camper" mode. We had a very nice 3 nights in Bristol town centre a few years ago, we can park at the road side an look "normal" (for a 45yr old Series..) until we pop the roof up for the night. Much as I like Series, I think the best tow vehicle for an airstream is a 40's Chevy Cabover:

I like that, and it would look good in limestone and bronze-green. Making that should be within our skill level - its a simple chassis, a few wires and a lot of alunimim sheet, sound familiar? Be nice to do it with series wheels so you don't need another spare.
