land rover series 3 1974 (advice/help) needed

hi all i have recently bought a land rover series 3 and have been out in it a couple of times but i parked it on my drive yesterday and went to go out in it today and as i put it in gear it made a weird noise when you take your foot of the clutch and will not move in any gears does anyone know what the problem is please any help or advice is really appreciated thanks Liam.

Hi Liam, welcome, can't help without more details TBH - which engine/box are you running etc? Give more details and I'm sure people on here will help.
By the way, a lot of people, myself included, feel it's a bad plan to show your reg number online - makes life easier for the thieves................................ good luck,

Thanks for he info have sorted it now as i am new to land rovers i didn't know much but it was stuck between 2 wheel and 4 wheel drive but there is a weird noise when i take my foot of the clutch like a little motor sound any ideas what this is please thank you

Does the sound disappear when you press the clutch pedal?

Was gonna say it could be your transfer gears! If its still whining, check all your levels and anything obvious, mine has a small whine when clutch is lifted so is it loud or really subtle? Is it only when cold after just starting?

Sounds like it might not be properly engaged in either 4H or 2L - if we're talking about the red knob - or not coming out of 4H if you have pressed the yellow knob, and used the red to release the dog clutch.... but if its the LR in your avatar,, then that doesn't look like a series to me... any chance of some pics of your gear levers? - and some more details of the LR in question - like which engine etc...
