It seems to me that most of the aftermarket centre dash options for pre 2002 Defenders are far superior (and offer more options) than the post 2002 Land Rover plastic centre dash (which is kinda boring) that was standard up to 2007. Are there any manufacturers/suppliers out there considering offering (or even already available) as an alternative to the bog standard LR plastic centre dash (Border Motorsport is similar but not sure it would replace the stadard fit). This would allow customisation of switches/instruments and radio fitments.
Come on Raptor/Border/Mud UK, somebody, anybody, you know you can do it!

Im in the same boat.

Raptor will do a screw in plate that fits over the existing plastic fitting.

Bolt on bits also do a moulded plastic console that can be modified to fit the post 02 TD5. (Currently doing this myself).

Looks like it can be done but will take some work. Apparently the same company are working on a post 02 TD5 specific version, however who knows.

Finally Iron Goat but its silly money.

Yes, I have the Mud UK plate that screws to the plastic dash (but loath to cut up and wreck the plastic dash which is worth about 160 squids) Really like the look of the Border Motorsport dash and it would be great if that could replace the LR centre dash in its entirety. Suppose I should contact them and ask the question....

Mine already has holes in it so don't really care what happens to it. If I get the dash I want im happy. Its being cut to pieces and essentially used as a mounting bracket.

I never had a problem with the standard Land Rover centre console in my 2006 and 2005 Defenders.
It seems in keeping with the rest of the interior, and is a big improvement over the pre-2002 arrangement.

I agree it is a big improvement over the pre 2002 arrangement, but there are some excellent aftermarket dash options available that give a wider scope to change the switches and radio and instruments....I am looking for that type of option.
