Land Rover freelander 2 stereo upgrade

I have just bought a 2010 freelander 2 and it has a basic stereo.
I wanted to know if I bought the stereo that has blue tooth will it just be a case of unplugging old and plugging in new or is there issues with wiring
Looms etc. I want to be able to use hands free. Will I need to run a new microphone. I have the basic model freelander

Do you have parking sensors? If not it’s a bit easier to do - how many presets does the radio have?

No parking sensors and I have 6 preset stations.

I thought all FL2 came with built in hands free & blue tooth photo's below, what model do you have ?

Mine has hands free Bluetooth for calls, but can’t play music over Bluetooth.

unfortunately not, my radio has the phone button as in SDC19741.JPG but nothing is linked up, don't have the fancy phone buttons on steering wheel either, most disappointing and apparently it is way to much hassle to upgrade the system to a LR system with phone and bluetooth, so have to make do with the auxiliary socket. I have the se SD4 2010/11

You’ll need an adaptor harness and a facia plate - loads on internet or Halfords

Just need to decide what head unit you fit and that dictates the harness and facia plate

mines the same as yours i have my mobile connected through bluetooth but i dont think all models have it

I'm not 100% sure but don't you have to modify the ECU settings, the whole setup is pretty complex with some of the radio in the rear wing and the sub woofer in the boot so its difficult to work with, take a look here there are some threads on this http://www.freel2.com/forum/

Hiya! I've just got the xtrons hooked up to the car, no sound though, sounds comes out of the speaker they supplied but not the car speakers any hints on what's going wrong? I've got a GS freelander 2 07 plate

I think there's something about hooking up the output to the input leads but I dont have any documents now.
I took the little speaker off and added a central speaker in the dashboard for the sat nav, I can get the mp3 sound through the car speakers but can only hear it when I turn the radio up high.

It depends on what HU was in there, as to what system is fitted. Some have a separate amplifier, which hooks up to the HU via an optical system. If this is the case, then you'll need to either rewire all the speakers to fun of the Chinesium HU, or find someone who has made a conversion unit to the optical system. You won't have a working PDC system either, as that works through the standard HU.

If I was going to all that trouble to change the vehicle electrical system, then I'd not be fitting a cheap Chinese HU, but use one from a proprietary HU manufacturer.
