Land Rover Freelander 2 (2007) Tailgate Wont Open!!!

The tailgate on my 2007 Freelander wont open. The car will lock using remote central locking, including the fuel flap. I've checked the fuse and its good. I'm assuming the microswitch has died.....question is does anyone know a clean way of opening the tailgate when its closed and the microswitch isnt helping???

Press and hold the lock and unlock button on the dash and this will pop the boot latch

With the engine running partner in crime held down the dash unlock button and I tried the tailgate.....no luck, still wouldnt open. any other suggestions or was I doing this wrong?

Hold the two buttons down at same time

Which two - unlock and the tailgate or unlock and lock?

Success!! : ) Held unlock and lock together while partner tried the tailgate....and who knew the tailgate opened. Much obliged all
