Morning all

I rebuilt my 1988 90 two years ago and the brake peddle has lots of travel in it before it starts to work. The garage I get the mot done at thinks its to much and I tend to agree. I have had them bleed the brakes and there is no improvement. I have also checked all the brakes work on each corner. When I rebuilt it I replaced the rear calipers and the brake master cylinder. I have checked the servo rod is working also the there is Vacum from the engine. Can any one elce please think of any thing elce to try as I'm thinking of replacing the servo. Thanks for any help Simon.

If there was a problem with the servo, surely the pedal would just be hard, not travelling too far!
Have you checked that all your hoses are fine? Could be as simple as a bad hose swelling under pressure!

servo rod should be adjustable ,too much length will allow brakes to pull on themselves too short will give a lot of pedal free play

If its a 1988 90 you should have drums on the back not calipers?

If you do have drums on the back, check that the brake shoes are the right way round - (they are handed) - if they have been mixed up they can't be adjusted properly and you'll get long pedal travel.
