Hi Guys
If you remember me then you will know I aquired a 89 19J a couple of months ago. Ive got a couple of problems which as a complete noob, with a willing to learn, have been researching. Pls, any reference to fit a 200 or 300 can be disregarded as i def do not have the funds.
Here we go, i dont drive the 90 very often and its usually only short trips, its a pure toy for playing and offroading. The exhaust smokes on start up but quickly clears after a min or too and then is fine. Mileage 138K. Has had service by LR for past ten years covering 15K.
I noticed today that the heater is only blowing cold air, Ive had a look and noticed that the oil cap hose to the air intake is very oily, also the turbo has started blowing a bit of smoke on start up. Am i right in thinking that if I flush the heater matrix and do a full flush of coolant, maybe replace oily hoses that this will probably solve the problem or am i being a bit niave? If I don't replace hoses then will the excess oil just burn off? To conclude, i think a blockage in the heater matrix is the problem, could this cause extra pressure in the oil bay causing oil to pass through the hose to the air filter/intake then to the turbo? Comments appreciated.
Also, i have seen several people have disconnected the hose from the oil cap to the air intake, is this a good idea or not and how should i go about it if it is better?
Many thanks
