Land Rover 110 rebuild

right after a few years iv playing and welding up the chassis on one of our 110's we have decided to go for a galvanised one so i will try and put a photo diary on here
cant promise if the pics will come up havnt done it before!

so here goes
weve repaired a second hand chassis and its been for shot blasting and galvanising along with the trailing arms, bulkhead and cappings. got it all home today (looking great)
so here are some pics of the start of the what im guessing is a very long story!





The rear salisbary axle has been modified for discs and the front axle is waiting for the box of shiny new bits to be refurbished





and this the beast that its all got to go into because of the blody rotten chassis and bulkhead

Photos are slightly blurred due to camera shake - hopefully your camera will have an automatic compensator for that - just needs turning on

sorry about the lack of posts havnt been able to get onto the chassis this week but heres whats been done now
forgot to show last time second hand gearbox crossmember has been dipped because the old one was about as straight as a banana



right the paint arrived on thursday proper galvanised paint and its satin black, i think what they were when they came out of the factory?















so the underside is painted and we will be flipping it back over today to paint the top then we can start putting it together! yay!

The pics show the paint its good stuff, goes on easy and is very tough for what it is.





got the chassis flipped over now and i have finished painting will take some photos when i can

according to my dad who bought it, we got it from decorating direct

finally got some time to take some pics of the chassis totally painted







everything we need to get to rolling chassis is now here just need the time to put it all together

sorry for the lack of posts lately you know how it is!

anyway finally got to take some pics of the chassis with its rebuilt axles (yes a rolling chassis finally!)

front axles with new swivels etc





rear salisbury drum brake axle that been converted to discs





and with a set of new polybushes and a load of new stainless bolts its on its springs











right next job is to get all of the brakes pipes in will try and keep you posted

finally got some progress on the rust bucket this week so heres a few pictures





















next job is the gearbox over to the chassis

really sorry for the lack of posts but just not had the time to even think about putitng some pics on here

having lost the pics of fitting the tub in cyber space ther is a gap in the photos

it is now almost done so a lot has happened since my last post

a few mods are the heated windscreen and the winch



























































next a good clean!! and to tighten up all of the suspension bolts
but its getting there!!

Nice work. You seem to be getting through lots of tubs of margarine. Are you using it as a rust preventative?
