When filling out on line insurance forms make sure that all the entries are correct , including the estimated milege.
I am writing this just to let you know what happend to me and it cost me another £200.00

my last insurance ran out on the 6th and was with NFU, there quote came in to dear at a few quid short of £600.00 fully comp SDP+C , with a clean licence , and 3 years no claims and 1 bump in the last 12 months (My fault) for my 1.8 freelander. i am 38.

this months LRO had a advert in for lancaster insurance, went on line to get a quote as they are Landy experts. £312.00 a year fully comp... the quote on line came back...Bargain... brought it.... Paid in full on line.

All the stuff came in the post and i just put in the car WITHOUT reading it, i keep all my docs in the car just in case.

Now then.... a friend of mine who is looking for insurance asked me who i was with , i told him , got the paper work out of the car to get the phone number and details for him, i read through the policy , Turns out i had a mileage reistriction of 2000 miles yes two thousand miles.... i thought at first it was a typo on there half, then i thought i had just better check. sent them an email to confirm the mileage. it was correct 2000 miles.

I told them that i do around 12K a year the average..turns out that when i clicked on the mileage selector for 12k , when i tabbed down to the next entry it defaulted back to 1k per year , and i never noticed.they give you another thousand miles as a buffer.

That click cost me another £189.00 quid today. i am livid.......

Don't fall into the same trap , double check everything and read your policy carefully,

i wonder how many people this has happend to and are unaware.....

Moan over

Mick:(

been with lancaster for years with the jags and the landrovers, 25, full no claims, fully comp in liverpool plus 3rd party cover on any car, 180 quid @ 12k per year and it states on my policy the same mileage.
something has gone drastically wrong for you there.! never ever had an issue out of them.

Don't get me wrong , i am pretty sure that it is my fault as i should of read it all properly BEFORE i hit submit on the web site , i am just a bit miffed that they couldn't do more with the price... i might of well of stayed with NFU.

I was highlighting how easy it is to make a small mistake and how it could affect your insurance if you had a smash , i dare say that they have access to the VOSA database for the mileage for the car from the MOT. that is how they know how many miles you do.

I wasn' t slagging them off

regards
mick

When we were looking at getting new proper cover for ours, we tried quotes a million times on lancaster. Every time it sets the max milage to 2000 by default. we almost got it wrong first few times we had a look till i noticed. Good job we did.

Heard good things about lancaster, we ended up going with adrian flux cos they were £25 cheaper :D but when tom gets insurance for the series (when he eventually passes) it'll be with lancaster we think

Ouch! Good thing that you spotted it though, but do/can they actually check your annual mileage? you could be doing more than you thought, They are asking you before you do it, and as it says it's only an "expected annual mileage"

Never do it online, pick up the phone and do it that way. Get a more accurate quote and you are speaking to a human being. I'm with sureterm as I've always used them for Landys - £189 fully comp on me 90 with a 12k mile limit. Bit more pricey for the Rangie, but still less than half the price of the mainstream insurers you see advertised...

He will be when he passes

with adrian flux you get a quote by filing in form online. They email you back with quote, then you ring up to organize the cover. So you can then iron it all out. They run through everything making sure its correct. Disco i'm paying £60 a month for ten months, series 3 is £30 a month for ten months (they take two months deposit using a credit card on start of cover)

I have my insurance with Marks&Spencer £380 for my Disco 300 no ncd as I have 10 years on the BMW,but it includes full RAC cover GB and Europe.Up to 8000 miles per year.

Insurance is a bleedin minefield anyway...and it's often down to the "legal" peeps to actually decide the liability in the event of an accident...especially with a 3rd party.
Still...gotta have it and I prefer to get quotes online and then confirm in person..taking name, date etc., cos I've had some pretty wild variations from online and "offline" quotes.

Gonna have to try these Lancaster peeps next time round...was gonna do NFU..won't insure me this time round.
