Hi everyone ,Have not long purchased 2000 td5 seems to be nice motor, however seems to be in limp mode or at least i think it is ,intermitent with power, struggles to get up to speed, sometimes when going through gears there is sudden surge of power as , turbo kicks in around 2500 but not constant .Had diagnostic, showed maf sensor , mapp sensor ,xyz switch , and egr valve , bought blanking kit for egr , replaced maf sensor and xyx , still no power , wastegate arm free , can move with pliers ,will take mapp off and clean , any suggestions would be gratefull as a little frustrated . many thanks

Not that simple, the wastegate arm needs to be disconnected for checking,it really does need to be as sloppy as a tu-d in a pi-- pot to work properly. The engine ecu will limit fuelling if it sees overboost.....

Thanks , will attempt to have a go an see how i get on :)am assuming it is an easy job to do ?

Sounds exactly like the problems I recently and it turned out to be a number of things - I had cracked head letting fuel into oil ( Check level) but problem came back once they were replaced. I then found the MAF needed replacing along with a new Turbo. Do you find it is ok when cold then starts playing up once warm ? The actuator was intermittent on mine causing flat spots and bringing up an over boost fault. ( Garage took mine for a few drives under various loads with diagnostics plugged in to read various things )
I then also had new fuel pump, I was only getting 50mph top speed and since then it is driving better than it ever has since I've owned it.
I had several problems making up the power loss and even the specialists were baffled, overall I had all this replaced in this order to get it sorted,
Injector - peak charge
Cylinder Head - cracked letting fuel into oil
O rings and seals on injectors
Injector Harness - oil ingress
MAF Sensor - Not reading
New Turbo - actuator inside knackered
New Fuel Pump - knackered
Along with various sundries etc
May give you an idea of a few things to look at as worst case - I've had a very frustrating few weeks trying to solve it but worth it in the end honest.

My landy gets offroaded and stood for long periods of time so my wastegate often sticks and causes overboost. It generally doesn't take much to free it off but it can be frustrating when it does it.

When it's working as it should do my landy flies. There is a hell of a difference between when the wastegate is working correctly and when it's sticking.

Thanks for your advice , as you know , process of elimination ,just frustrating as only had car for bout 5 weeks now and never expected to have these problems so soon after buying , or ploughing money into it so soon .. Will have good look into whats causing problem , Anybody in the wirral area with a nanacom that could help me along ?

UPDATE. Full power restored, had diagnostic done today shown up ,wasnt picking up mapp sensor , had power chip fitted to mapp , so chip was disconnected and problem solved , happy days :)
