can any one help please i have a 94 disco (green) wen trying to tow my boat or other trailers etc or just go up a grass bank or small incline i have to either put it in low gear and really rev it to get it to go or high gr rev the nuts out of itto get it to go any where but on flat ground its fine any suggestions plz would be appreciated

My guess is that it was once painted red. By changing the colour to green the previous owner was hoping it would increase the power. T'is common knowledge that Red uns don't like going up hills.

you dont say what engine ! but if its turbo diesel is it kicking out black smoke when towing or labouring it as it could be a hole / crack in the turbo pipe or intercooler damaged

It sounds to me like clutch slip
Because the clutch slips the revs rise, classic sign of clutch slip when engine is labouring

That really does not make any sense at all.

Check under te top inter cooler hose. Mine hada split under it and gave the same symptoms.

To those that are being helpful it is a 2.5tdi engine and i will check out the intercooler suggestion thanks

Loss of grunt on hills or when calling for power is often lift pump not working-they still run on the i/pump only, but not so well

If the disco is new to you I would spend an afternoon and give it a good service, new oils in engine, gearbox and diffs, and replace all the filters air, fuel, oil. While you have the tools out order a new lift pump and EGR blanking kit and fit those. Check all the turbo and intercooler hoses make sure nothing is split. This should make a considerable difference (it did to mine) then if still not enough power do the pump tweak and then you should be happy.
